Motion Family

Director Trio

Atlanta based Motion Family, or MoFam as they’re more commonly known, is a director trio: David KA, Diwang Valdez and Sebastian Urrea. Together, their work is the result of three distinct viewpoints and skillsets converging into one-of-a-kind content. They are best known for their acute understanding of hip-hop culture, which is continually exemplified through their raw images.

Since forming in 2005, Motion Family has gained worldwide acclaim in the music industry for their work with up-and-coming artists like Lil Yachty, Ayo & Teo, and Tee Grizzly, as well as established legends like such as Nicki Minaj, Snoop Dogg, Wiz Khalifa, Jeezy, 2 Chainz, Fetty Wap, Big K.R.I.T., Young Thug, BoB, Rick Ross, Lil’ Wayne, T.I., Wacka Flocka, Boosie, and The Dream. Their disruptive visuals for - then unsigned - artists like Pill, Trinidad James, and Yelawolf have helped lead to major label deals with Warner Bros., Def Jam, and Interscope.

Their deep knowledge of urban culture and longstanding relationships with artists and influencers have successfully translated into commercial campaigns for Checkers, Finish Line, New Balance, Adidas, Fanta, Walmart, AT&T, Audi, Lenovo, the FDA, Casio G-Shock, MTV, VH1 and BET. Among their many accolades, their Vax that Thang Up spot for BLK, was among AdWeek’s Best Ads of 2021, and their branded documentary about Zaytoven for Red Bull’s “The Note” series, earned 3.2 million plays and 13K shares in its first two weeks.

Their extensive work has been recognized by CNN, The New York Times, XXL Magazine, The Fader, and Complex Magazine, and they are regular panelists at film and music festivals across the country.
