Ross Finkel is an award-winning cinematographer and director whose work has been featured on ESPN, HBO, Fusion, Showtime, EPIX, Netflix, and in theaters across the country. He has filmed numerous commercials, short documentaries, and branded content spots for brands and institutions like Adidas, ESPN, Goodwill Industries, Delta, Time, Inc., Vox Media and Conde Nast.
In 2009 Ross and a small crew embedded themselves into the lives of two teenaged baseball players from the Dominican Republic as they navigated the competitive and corrupt world of MLB recruitment on the island. The film “Ballplayer: Pelotero” went on to play in 20 film festivals before being released in theaters in 15 cities in 2012, as well as on iTunes, Fusion, HBO Latino, and Netflix. It was named a critic’s pick by the New York Times, the Washington Post, and New York Magazine.
Ross co-directed and was the Cinematographer for “Schooled: The Price of College Sports,” a film that examines the NCAA’s treatment of college athletes through the lens of human rights and economics. The film was featured by ESPN, CBS Sports, and Sports Illustrated and premiered on EPIX. Over the course of three years he acted as camera operator for Lotfy Nathan's acclaimed “12 O'Clock Boys,” a film that premiered in competition at SXSW and went on to air on Showtime. Ross is also the Executive Producer and Director of a new comedy show premiering on TruTV called “Blank Meets Blank,” a show about pitching movies filmed and executed in a “Drunk History” style.
